Caucus Scholarship In honour of the memory of long-time Caucus Member, Gary J. Bigg, the Canadian Caucus has created a scholarship in his name. Gary Bigg was a leader in practice, friend to all who knew him, and he had a strong commitment to mentoring those in early practice. An endowment was established to allow a young lawyer to attend an AAJ Summer Convention. The first recipient of the Gary Bigg Memorial Scholarship was Adam Rodgers (NS). The 2012 recipient was Melissa MacAdam (NS). The 2013 recipient was Shelley Cannon (SK). The 2014 recipient was Ali Raja (NS). The 2015 recipient was Alex Deacon (SK). The 2016 recipient was Jean-Daniel Comeau (NB). The 2017 recipient was Loree Richardson (SK). The 2018 recipient was Daniel Wood (NS). The 2019 recipient was Jeff Mitchell (NS). After a hiatus due to Covid, we resumed the scholarship in 2023. The 2023 recipient was Coralie Robert (NB). President's Award The President of the Canadian Caucus occasionally confers a President’s Award to recognize a Member who has given selflessly and generously of their time and resources in support of the Canadian Member of AAJ and represents excellence in professional achievement. In July, 2007, the First President’s Award was given to H. Bruce T. Hillyer (ON) by the then President, Raymond Wagner. In July, 2010, the President’s Award was given to the late Gary J. Bigg (AB) by our then President, Gary Will. In July, 2011, the President’s Award was given to Ray Wagner (NS) by our then President, Gary Will. In July, 2013, the President's Award was given to Derek Miura (BC) by our then President, Gary Will. |
