AI for Litigation and Trial

Published by San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association
and Canadian Caucus of AAJ
Learning Objectives
  • AI tools—strengths and weaknesses
  • What AI can do and what most AI tools cannot do
  • What most legal tech gets wrong and what lawyers really need from AI tools
  • How the right AI tools can work for you like a trusted partner
  • Finding the right balance between automation and control

Summary

Like it or not, AI is the future of law. But most AI tools are not designed for the special needs of lawyers. You need to know what an AI tool can do, what it cannot do, and how well it meets the special litigation needs of personal injury lawyers. Ideally, you need AI tools than can think like a lawyer.

The AI tools you use should be able to take you through all stages of litigation from drafting complaints, motions and briefs; creating discovery requests and responses; organizing documents, exhibits and witness lists for trial; and finally developing opening statements, closing arguments, jury instructions and trial briefs.

Bob Arns, developer of The Evidence Wheel and The Trial Wheel, and Shounak Dharap, a trial lawyer with a background in tech, will educate you on what you need to know when choosing AI tools for your personal injury practice.
